为了提高双语教学水平，我们15位来自11所医学院校的组织学与胚胎学教师，受人民卫生出版社委托，以人民卫生出版社出版的组织学与胚胎学规划教材为框架，对McGraw Hill出版的英文原版Histology and Cell Biology，Color Atlas of Basic Histologv等进行了改编，编辑成了这本英文版组织学与胚胎学教材。

本教材内容的广度、深度和编排层次都与中文版教材相当，语言文字则大都来自英文原版教材，这就方便了教师的备课和学生的学习，也避免了非英文母语作者的自编英文教材中常出现的语言文字弊病，不仅使学生学到专业知识，还可使学生学到规范的专业英语。
