中山大学肿瘤防治中心以诊治及研究鼻咽癌而著名，本院收治来自全国各地及东南亚地区的鼻咽癌患者。为了培养医疗人才及满足鼻咽癌的诊断和研究的需要，本图谱从211 248例活检及8 848例解剖材料中(包括中山大学医学院一些解剖病例及肿瘤的活检病例)精选制作，以期能丰富耳鼻喉科、病理科及肿瘤学的资料。

本图谱可为医学院校、医院及有关科研单位在耳鼻喉科、病理学及肿瘤学的临床教学及科研提供参考。
