本书分理论篇和实践篇。理论篇以理论教学先导，针对口译的特征，从理论的角度向读者作高屋建瓴的概述，使读者对口译的性质、特点、标准、过程、类型等形成概括性的认识。理论部分在原来的基础上增加“白译的翻译单位”以及“图式理论在口译训练中的实例”等部分章节。论述力争深入浅出，使学生对口译这门实践性极强的课程在理论和技巧方面有些提纲挈领的认识。
