编写《视听说教程》的宗旨是“还课堂教学以本来面貌”，追求“教有实效、学有实效”，使每一节课都能收到语言教学的实效。本教材把交际功能、题材、情景有机地结合在一起，注意题材体裁的多样性、语言材料的真实性、练习的趣味性，同时重视图文设计与多种媒体语言学习材料配合的综合效果，使学习过程变得生动活泼，同学们愿意学、学得会。

本册为第六册，是《视听说教程》前五册的后续课程。配合主干教材《综合教程》使用，每册共八个单元，每单元上课两周。本书为学生用书。苏珊、杨惠中担任本书主编。
