新版《人教小学英语》教材注重语音教学，提倡培养学生自然拼读能力。郑文主编的《小学英语语音同步阅读(4上)》以四年级学生的英语综合能力为基准，以新版人教小学英语（PEP）教材各册单元为板块，编创相应的语音阅读材料。全书共六个单元，每个单元各6至8篇，共选编40余篇题材新颖，符合小学生学习兴趣和认知水平的语音阅读材料。
