本书为针对自然交谈中故事叙述活动的会话分析研究成果，聚焦于故事讲述的“暂停”及“回归”这两个现象。作者发现：故事的暂停可以是较短时间的，两三个话轮之后讲述者即继续原本的讲述；讲述者既可通过“重复”达成目标，也可以等插入序列完成后直接继续故事讲述；讲述者继续讲述未完成的故事与故事发出的话语行为相关。

彭欣，厦门大学外文学院助理教授。香港城市大学翻译及语言学系博士，曾于美国加州大学洛杉矶分校访学。主持国家社会科学基金青年项目一项、中央高校基本科研业务费专项资金资助项目一项，参与教育部人文社会科学研究青年基金项目两项。主要从事会话分析及多模态话语分析研究。研究兴趣为人际互动时故事活动的动态发展及故事重演现象。
