有机化学实验教学的主要目的是培养学生实验的操作技能和动手能力。本书围绕“以问题为核心，让学生在实验中成长”进行编写，实验课程体系设计从低到高，从基础到前沿，从基本技能训练到综合能力培养，层次分明，逐级提高。全书采用英文编写，结合了国内外有机化学实验教学的实际需要。全书分为四部分：有机化学实验的一般知识，实验操作的基本技能，有机化合物的制备（22个基础实验和1个综合设计性实验）和附录，涵盖了化学、化工等专业教学大纲中对有机化学实验课的基本要求。每个实验包括实验目的、实验原理、仪器试剂、实验步骤、注意事项和思考题等部分。书后附录收集了各类实验所需的数据表，便于学生及相关人员查阅使用。
