SYNOPSIS 　　At the end of WWII, Japan seizes a Buddhist temple bell with a 1300-year-old history for its metal. That day, Jong-du's father went to the Buddhist temple because his elderly mother was near death. Jong-du's father wanted to ring the bell to wish his mother safe passage into Buddhist paradise. But instead, Jong-du's father meets death at the hands of the Japanese. To pay respects to his grandmother and father, Jong-du tries to cast a new bell. Due to his excessive behavior, Jong-du is sent away from the temple. At this time, Suk-hi, an art student, has come to the temple for a rest. She falls in love with Jong-du for his passion. Suk-hi dumps her wealthy fiancee and moves in with Jong-du. In order to support themselves, Suk-hi, the tinker wife, searches for copper to make a new temple bell. Then a rich businessman gives them financial support.
