Frustrated by her family, she pretends to be a boy and joins a group of young boys who perform music on the street for money. The group is led by Don Pedro, a man who exploits them for their own profit. Though the film's story is heartbreaking, it is presented as a funny, touching narrative of one girl trying to find herself and help save her friends from the man, and the world, that keeps them down. Similar to "My Life As A Dog," and just as good, if not better.
