本书是用一种朴素而客观逻辑的视角，对散文诗化的帛书《老子》这部古代经典著作的逐句对译，以此得到这部著作的现代散文诗形式，便于体会原文的旨意。
本书使用的帛书《老子》原文是参照梁海明先生的《老子》一书形成的，是因他采用的《老子》原文的形成，是实行以帛书《老子》甲本为底本，然后是甲本不足乙本补，乙本不足通行本《老子》补的原则，这样就尽量保证了原文的原貌，尽量避免了两千多年来无数次誊抄可能带来的变动。本文所得原文的个别特殊字句还参照了高明先生的《帛书老子校注》一书和裘锡圭先生主编的《长沙马王堆汉墓简帛集成（肆）》一书。因此，本文使用的原文保留了帛书《老子》甲本的基本原貌，即无标题无段落无标点，且德篇内容在前，道篇内容在后。希望我们能使用尽量接近于《老子》原著成文时的版本原貌，能用一种朴素而客观逻辑的视角去读《老子》原文。
