　　理查德.阿滕伯勒， 英国电影演员，导演。1923年8月29日生于剑桥。曾就学于英国皇家戏剧学院。1942年他在影片《我们为之而战》中第一次扮演了银幕角色。第二次世界大战后在英美两国影片中多次扮演重要角色，演技日趋成熟。1964年因主演《巴塔西的枪》和《一个雨天下午的集会》获英国电影学会最佳男演员奖。此后又因《沙石号炮舰》和《杜利特尔博士》两次获得好莱坞外国记者协会评选的最佳男配角金球奖。
　　60年代以后开始导演电影，执导的影片有《青年时代的丘吉尔》和《遥远的桥》等。从1962年开始筹拍《甘地传》，经过近20年的周折才拍摄完成，上映后获奥斯卡最佳影片、最佳导演等8项奖， 同时还获纽约影评人最佳影片奖， 英国电影电视学会最佳影片、最佳导演奖，好莱坞外国记者协会最佳导演金球奖。
