　　　　故事讲述天真的穷小子阿拉丁（尼纳托·达沃力 Ninetto Davoli饰）爱上了一个女奴苏玛洛（伊娜丝·佩莱格里尼 Ines Pellegrini饰），成为她挑选的新主人。苏玛洛带他初尝性爱的快乐，并给他讲书上描述的各种情色故事。不久嫉妒的奴隶主抢走了苏玛洛，阿拉丁四处寻找着她，并在路上听到了旅行者们向他讲述的各自或悲情或浪漫的爱情故事。 由“后新现实主义时代”导演皮埃尔·保罗·帕索里尼执导的影片《一千零一夜》是帕索里尼“生命三部曲”的最后一部，前两部为《十日谈》和《坎特伯雷故事》。影片以正面肯定的方式对性爱民俗和同性恋加以描述，把阿拉伯民间故事集《一千零一夜》古老而传奇的故事搬上银幕。本片荣获1974年第27届戛纳电影节主竞赛单元-评审团大奖，并入围1974年第27届戛纳电影节主竞赛单元-金棕榈奖。
