It is Seok Chul Kim's vocation to look at the world from above and invent the shapes of his cities from above. His vision is as big as that of Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn, with the same desire to structure the territory with large urban signs that are extremely recognizable. With an ecumenical architectural culture that expresses both the East and the West, professor Kim imagines and builds urban utopias that depart from the depths of history and are projected toward science-fictional urban planning. His are utopias of peace and urban aesthetics.

On looking back our ten-year acquaintance, I again realize how imaginative and passionate an architect he is. He had been well disciplined in modern architecture and at the same time his knowledge of his country's culture is not ordinary. I can see how imaginative investigator he is by looking at his projects on megapoleis that he is carrying out. Professor Kim had just entered his sixties -- the harvesting season of his life. On observing his past career and results he had obtained, he is still full of vigor and welcoming the springtime of creation. I expect that he will present more masterpieces to the world.
