A story of which no grown-up today wants to know-a story that joins in a common journey some no longer in this world, others who are still alive, and perhaps still others who are yet to come. Such a journey becomes an adventure in the present book, a journey from which one cannot send a greeting to friends and acquaintances on a picture postcard. The harmless recipient would think he were standing on his head, for here, conjured up from nothingness, loom traces in the sand of transitoriness, endless and imperishable footprints that lead to the altar of the god unknown-reality.
